What Does It Mean To Be a Daughter of The Most High?

“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10 NIV)

Although Proverbs 31:10 is often read within the context of marriage, it reveals something much deeper about how God values His children and His daughters specifically. A woman’s worth, according to God, is not conditional or circumstantial. To say she is “more precious than rubies” speaks of rarity, honour, and immeasurable value. It shows that women are deeply treasured by God, not because of what they do, but because of who they are to Him.

From the very beginning, God showed intentionality in the creation of woman. She was not created as an afterthought, nor as lesser, but formed with care and purpose, taken from man, yet uniquely designed. This alone reflects how much thought and value God placed on women. Creation itself points to dignity and divine intention.

Throughout Scripture, we also see how God favours, hears, and responds to women. He answered Hannah’s desperate and heartfelt prayers, not dismissing her tears, but entrusting her with Samuel, a prophet who would shape a generation. He placed Esther in a position of influence and used her courage and obedience to preserve an entire nation. These are not isolated moments, they reveal a consistent pattern, God sees women, listens to them, and involves them in His redemptive plans.

This is further confirmed in the life of Deborah.

“Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.” (Judges 4:4 NIV)

Deborah was not only a prophet but a judge, a leader raised by God to guide a nation. God entrusted her with wisdom, authority, and direction for Israel. Her story shows clearly that God views women as people with purpose, responsibility, and calling, capable of leadership and influence for His greater good. God did not merely allow Deborah to lead, He appointed her.

So, what does this mean for us? To be a daughter of the Most High is to be a woman with purpose and direction. It means your life is not random or without meaning. As daughters, we are under God’s covering, with Jesus as our head, and because of this, we are guided and led by Him.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,” (Psalms 23:1-2 NIV)

Psalm 23 reminds us that the Lord is our shepherd. And where there is a shepherd, there is guidance. As daughters of the Most High, we are not drifting through life, we are being led. God guides our paths, orders our steps, and leads us where we need to be. He does not leave His daughters wandering without guidance or identity.

Under this covering, God also helps us discover who we are. He shapes our identity, heals what is broken, and affirms our worth. Being a daughter of the Most High is not just a title; it is an identity rooted in relationship. We learn ourselves through knowing Him.

With that identity also comes expectation, just as in a natural father-daughter relationship. There is respect, obedience, listening, and trust. A healthy father daughter relationship is often special, marked by protection, guidance, and care, and it is the same with God. He values His daughters deeply, and He calls them to walk closely with Him.

To be a daughter of the Most High means being surrendered to Jesus. It means living in obedience, sitting at His feet, allowing Him to lead, correct, and guide. It is the posture of a child who trusts her Father, not striving, not self righteous, but dependent on His mercy and love.

Personally, I have always viewed God as a Father to me, watching over me, protecting me, guiding me. The ways He has cared for my life, the direction He has given me, and the things He has done for me reflect exactly what a loving father does. He is present, attentive, and intentional.

And that is the beauty of being a daughter of the Most High, to be deeply valued, purposefully created, lovingly guided, and securely kept by a Father who knows you and loves you completely.

“But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
